Isla Mujeres 2012
~~Day 5 “Jon & Nick ITFF and Caribbean Casa Tour”
Good morning Sunshine!
Wonderful views in every direction….this is the view from the sunset balcony during the day…Cancun in the distance…
Such a beautiful day so we’re off to the beach bright and early. We find one of ‘our’ spots under the palms and get comfy. Not long after, the peace is broken by a huge thud! Scared the daylights out of me, and maybe more! ;) Not a foot from my chair a huge and very heavy coconut landed. Wow…if that had landed on my head, I think I would have been in trouble.
I quickly get up and move my chair a safe distance away from any more coconut bombs. Always look up before sitting down!
Back to enjoying the peace and quiet for a while longer. By mid-afternoon we leave the beach to go see Jon Stone and Nick Norman perform at the Soggy Peso. Jon and Nick are incredibly talented musicians and songwriter and a lot of fun! They are part of the entertainment for the annual Island Time Fishing Festival or ITFF, a fundraiser for a very worth charity of Isla, The Little Yellow Schoolhouse. Now, Vince and I are far from being country music fans, but Jon and Nick could make any rock ‘n roller appreciate good music and fun entertainment! Off to the Soggy Peso where they are giving an informal afternoon performance.
There’s a big crowd gathered….
And what do I find while sitting poolside?.....
I’ve only been to the Soggy Peso twice and each time I’ve seen a scorpion! Must be their hang out spot!

We head off to Chedraui to pick up a few things since we’re close by, then head home for a quiet evening. Had our Olivia’s leftovers with some buns and salad and we’re happy!
Since there aren’t too many photos today, here’s a tour of Casita Isladise of Caribbean Casa. We started staying at this townhouse in 2008 when it was still called villa makax. In 2011, it was purchased by new owners, Cori and Pedro, who have since turned it into something beyond even my dreams! They added a third floor master suite complete with a sunrise balcony, sunset balcony and dipping pool. The main floor has a bathroom, kitchenette, living area and east-facing balcony. There have been even more updates to it since I took these photos. For all the latest visit their website at www.ourcaribbeancasa.com
Here we go….
From the street….’Casita Sonrisa’ is a studio apartment on the main floor and boasts a brand new beautiful kitchen. ‘Casita Isladise’ is the second and third floor.
Front door…beautiful wood with and opening for flow through breezes…
Open the front door of Isladise…..bathroom to the left, kitchenette and dining area, living area with TV, and balcony overlooking the sea…
Kitchenette with full size fridge……a little birdie tells me that there will be a new full size kitchen coming some time next year ☺ In the meantime, this one is very well appointed with all that you need for some meals at home.
