I was there several different times with friends both local and from U.S. We always went in the afternoon and had a great time.
Don Ruty is basically a local Mexican guys bar. The kind where not long ago women were not allowed. They didnt discourage the women in our group and we felt very welcome, but there werent a lot of other women there except servers.
There is a mix of people there. It may be a wilder and tougher place at night, but during the day it was just a great place to go. The music is always deafeningly loud unless you persuade them to turn it down.
We knew a couple of the waiters who had worked in a restaurant in Centro. We also saw lots of others who had helped us or waited on us at various places around the island.
Past that I cant say what goes on - only what we saw which was like most any other local island bar. Have to say I had great times there. |
